PRE SEASON CHECK:
Check your sprinkler package against your most recent sprinkler chart design.
Walk the pivot to look for visibly broken sprinklers, regulators and fittings; do a tire check (condition, tire pressure, lug nut tightness) and make sure the drive lines are straight and in good order.
Check for loose or damaged wires, solenoids and tube connections (main control panel, tower boxes, pivot point valve, end gun valves, etc.).
Start the pivot to check for leaks, plugged nozzles, worn-out or non-operable sprinklers; replace as needed in accordance with the sprinkler chart.
Check the uniformity of your sprinkler package – either with a cup/can test, or simply by running the machine on bare soil to check for dry streaks. If needed, redesign your sprinkler package, aiming for a uniformity above 90%.
PRE-SEASON MAINTENANCE:
Drain gear boxes and center drive motors of any accumulated water, and top up the oil.
Clear leaves, bug nests etc. from the main control panel and tower boxes.
Grease the pivot point and pump station.
Pull the sand trap and flush the entire system.
