Gauge Protector Kit for Manure Application

3/4″ FPT Port x 1/4″ FPT Port

NOTE: Fill the area under the pressure gauge with vegetable oil or RV Antifreeze before use.

The BEC Gauge Protector isolates harmful media from gauges and other pressure instruments. Media such as corrosive fertilizer, slurries and chemicals that can destroy or plug the gauge are separated from the gauge with a flexible diaphragm. The top of the gauge protector is aluminum and has a 1/4” NPT female port on it for connection to a pressure gauge or other instrument. The bottom is aluminum with a 3/4” NPT female port.

Protect equipment from corrosive materials, hot or cold liquids, slurries, paints, fuel or oils and other media that may clog or damage. Fertilizer sprayers • Mining slurries • Concrete slurries • Manure spreaders and sprayers • Isolate media from monitor stations • Pumping media harmful to gauges • Harmful tank media head pressure

Features – 1/4” NPT aluminum female top port • Flexible fluorocarbon (VITON) diaphragm • Easy field gauge replacement • Wide range of fill fluid can be used • Durable housing

NOTE: Fill the area under the pressure gauge with vegetable oil or RV antifreeze before use.

Description

A Gauge Protector Kit is a device used in irrigation systems to safeguard pressure gauges from damage caused by debris, water hammer, or exposure to harsh environmental conditions. By providing a barrier or cushioning mechanism, it ensures the accurate and long-term performance of pressure gauges, which are essential for monitoring and maintaining the system’s water pressure.

Key Features:

  1. Protective Housing:
    • Encloses the pressure gauge to shield it from physical impacts, dirt, and debris.
    • Often made of durable materials like metal or reinforced plastic to withstand rugged use.
  2. Debris Prevention:
    • Includes filters or barriers to prevent sediment or particulate matter from entering the gauge, which could clog or damage its internal mechanisms.
  3. Pressure Dampening:
    • Many kits feature a dampening mechanism to absorb sudden pressure spikes (water hammer), protecting the gauge from shock and ensuring accurate readings.
  4. Corrosion Resistance:
    • Designed to resist corrosion caused by water or fertilizers commonly used in irrigation systems.
  5. Easy Installation:
    • Comes with all necessary components for quick and straightforward integration into an existing irrigation setup.

Common Applications:

  1. Pressure Monitoring:
    • Protects gauges used to monitor water pressure in mainlines, valves, and pumps.
  2. Pump Systems:
    • Ensures accurate pressure readings and prevents damage to gauges installed on irrigation pumps.
  3. Fertilizer Injection Systems:
    • Shields gauges from exposure to corrosive fertilizers and chemicals in irrigation systems.

Benefits:

  1. Extended Gauge Lifespan:
    • Reduces wear and tear on pressure gauges, minimizing replacement and maintenance costs.
  2. Accurate Readings:
    • Maintains the integrity of gauges, ensuring reliable water pressure monitoring for efficient irrigation.
  3. System Protection:
    • Prevents potential system failures caused by malfunctioning or inaccurate gauges.
  4. Cost-Effective:
    • Protects investment in high-quality gauges, reducing the need for frequent replacements.

How It Works:

  1. Install the gauge protector between the irrigation system’s water source and the pressure gauge.
  2. The kit filters debris and dampens pressure surges before they reach the gauge.
  3. The protected gauge provides accurate, real-time pressure readings, ensuring the system operates within optimal parameters.

Components in a Gauge Protector Kit:

  • Protective housing: Encloses the gauge for physical protection.
  • Filter or screen: Prevents debris from reaching the gauge.
  • Pressure dampener: Cushions the gauge from sudden pressure spikes.
  • Mounting hardware: For easy attachment to the irrigation system.

In summary, a Gauge Protector Kit is an essential accessory for irrigation systems, offering durability, reliability, and protection for pressure gauges. It ensures accurate readings and prolongs the lifespan of gauges, making it a cost-effective solution for maintaining efficient water management.
