Sale!This Vertical Female Thread Foot Valve is made out of lightweight and durable aluminum. This SURE-FLO aluminum foot valve is for use on hose, pipe or plastic pipe. The durable rubber flapper seats on a machined aluminum surface and provides a tight seal which minimizes leakage. Unlike the old fashioned leather flapper it does not dry out or shrink when out of service. Ample space is provided for the flapper to fold back out of the liquid stream thus keeping friction loss to a minimum. The hump on the body must face up when it is used in a horizontal or near horizontal position. Note: Every valve will leak if there is no head pressure pushing down and sealing the flapper. Head pressure comes from the vertical down pressure of the volume of water above the valve. The weight of the 4 vertical feet of head pressure will push down and seal the valve. Below is a diagram showing how to measure the four feet of vertical lift from the water surface up to the centerline of the pump.
